Podcast Clipping App
INTRODUCTION
Overview
An app that helps podcast listeners capture, understand and revisit moments that matter. By clipping 15 secs (or more), getting AI-powered insights and building a personal library or ideas to learn from and share.
ROLE
UX/UI Designer (UX research, information architecture, wireframing, UI design, design system, prototyping, developer handoff, client approval)
TIMEFRAME
3 months
INITIAL PROBLEM STATEMENT
Valuable moments in long podcasts get buried.
Listeners cant instantly save what inspired them. Finding the right moment in the podcast again is difficult and time consuming
Creators/other users cant see what resonated.
There is no easy way to understand what moments are most valued by users.
‍Valuable ideas got buried in hours of content.
‍
Great insights are forgotten instead of being revisited, learned from and shared.
INITIAL SOLUTION & GOALS
Turning podcasts from passive consumption to active learning
Make capturing effortless. Let users clip meaningful podcasts moments instantly without interrupting their listening experience
Turn clips into useful knowledge. Provide key insights, transcripts that would make clips valuable when revisited later on.
‍Help users actually revisit what they save.
‍
Create a learning experience that bring saved clips back through weekly reminders and a structured review.
KICKSTART: EMPATHIZE
Understanding the main users and competitors
To shape the experience, I analyzed the podcast landscape, studied competitors and behaviors, and mapped the user journies for different user types
1. Interviews with podcasts listeners were held
Focus Areas:
Daily workflows, key metrics, pain points and efficiency challenges
Deliverables:
User personas were created as well us understanding users needs and painpoints
User Pain Points
Saved content loses context without insights
Too many saved clips, hard to find a specific clip.
They forget to go back to what they saved
What users told us they need
Context to understand why this clip was valuable
A clean, personal space to organize
Smart reminders to bring back forgotten ideas
Easy way to share valuable moments
2. Competitors analysis
Detailed analysis of competitors' screens, user process, and pricing plans to conclude what is needed to start, as well as understand the strengths and weaknesses in each product
3. Research Takeaways
DEFINING MAIN GOALS
Bridging the gap between listening & learning by helping users capture, organize and revisit what truly matters.
IDEATION AND BRAINSTORMING
Brainstorming and priortizing ideas
Brainstorming Board
A question we needed to answer: Clipping is not the only important part, its what happens after we clip?

THE INTERESTING UX CHALLANGES & ITERATIONS
The first wireframe was never the answer.
Behind the final design there were multiple iterations, UX trade-offs and conversations to balance the user needs, business goals and technical constraints. Below are some examples of wireframes done throughout the iterations phase.
1. How do we clip without interrupting the Listening experience?
2. How do we avoid a graveyard of unused saved clips?
DESIGN SYSTEM AND FINAL UI
The full app experience: From concept to UI screens
UI wasn't treared as a decoration. The system was designed to stay consistent across core flows, edge cases, premium states, empty states, and repeat interactions.
1. Discover and choose a podcast you want to listen to
2. Listen and clip meaningful moments
3. Revisit, organize and learn
4. Build a library of collections & manage clips
5. Share meaningful ideas and see what other people are sharing
